Style group Exotic Revival
Decades 1920s

Often considered a branch of the Art Deco style, the arrival of Egyptian Revival architecture in the early 20th century was a result of the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. Because most building projects across Chicago and the nation came to a halt after the Wall Street Crash of 1929, its popularity lasted only a few years, and there aren't many surviving buildings in this style.
